After conducting a feasibility study for the upgrade of fire protection and detection systems for a ‘brownfield’ solvent extraction and electrowinning plant in Chile, FSS provided engineering, procurement and construction management services to the mine.

New services included a foam water control centre, high expansion foam systems for SX trains, and low expansion foam systems for mixers and settler tanks. FSS also provided a high velocity water spray system for the tank farm, specialised automatic and shutdown sequencing for organic and process lines, remedial civil and structural work for containment purposes, an upgrade to the fire detection and alarm system peer-to-peer network, and water curtains and a spray system for transformers.
