Doug Pickersgill
CEO

Doug Pickersgill heads the FSS team. His career in the specialist field of fire protection spans almost 50 years in Australia, Japan, the United States, Brazil and England.

Doug has a unique understanding of best practice in risk management and loss prevention in the petroleum, mining, marine, defence, transport, telecommunications and other industries. He has been responsible for managing the fire protection and safety systems in significant projects throughout the world, including gold, coal, nickel and zinc operations, oil refineries, smelters, power stations, defence installations, light industrial plants and DLNG liquid tanks, to name just a few.

Brad Pickersgill
Principal

Brad joined the company in the mid 1990s and has been heavily involved with the installation of safety and fire protection systems in the mining, power and energy, petroleum and chemicals, materials handling, metals, refinery and other process-based operations.

Through this experience, Brad has a strong working knowledge of the specialist fields of fire detection, alarm and gaseous fire suppression systems. Accreditation also includes fire fighting appliances and automatic fire sprinkler systems, and the application of all facets of fire protection into fit-for-purpose solutions. Brad has worked closely with various international engineering and construction firms to ensure that protection systems perfectly match the needs of clients.

Adrian Plant
Technical Operations Manager

Adrian joined FSS early in 2006, bringing a wealth of experience to the design office and additional project management and supervisory skills to project sites. Adrian has more than 20 years’ experience as a fire services specialist, working as a systems designer, installation supervisor and consultant in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.


Allan Thompson
Business Development Manager

With a background in professional fire fighting, Allan brings a broad range of experience to the FSS team, especially in fire safety audits, fire engineering reports and fire protection systems. Allan has a detailed knowledge of emergency response procedures and practices, occupational health and safety legislative requirements and fixed and passive fire protection systems.


Ryan Ireland
Design/Technical Officer

Ryan has a background in drafting and design in the residential building industry, and joined FSS late in 2005 to broaden his experience. Ryan’s considerable skills as a Design Draftsman are now being applied largely on projects in the mining and heavy industry sector.


Debbie Pickersgill
Director, Office and Administration Manager

Debbie has been part of the FSS team since 1998 and oversees the management of the office, all administration and financial operations of the company. She is also responsible for marketing activities and is skilled in AutoCAD as well as office management computer programs.

Debbie is also an accredited Exercise Physiologist who works in the fields of injury prevention and rehabilitation education.

Her work to date has been focused on strength and conditioning of clients and groups with specific medical or occupational needs, athletes, and clients with particularly clinical challenges.

Debbie is also working to develop FSS’ ability to create injury prevention and rehabilitation education programs specific to the emergency services, industrial and fire fighting environments.

The aims for these programs are to educate and enhance teams, divisions or individuals in relation to functional fitness, human performance, back to work programs and injury prevention programs specific to their professional demands.


Ajmer Nagra
Financial Officer

Ajmer has been with FSS since 1997. She works closely with the company’s project engineers to provide administrative support and financial monitoring relating to large scale procurement projects. Ajmer has a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting.


Ajit Kumar K.
Specialist Fire Detection Engineer

Ajit Kumar K brings to FSS over 10 years of experience in the fire protection industry. Ajit is a fire detection and alarm network specialist, with experience in large-scale industrial projects throughout the Middle East. He has worked on Aluminium and Chemical projects and his skills also include design of gaseous fire suppression systems for special hazards.


Martin Johnson
Project Engineer

Martin joined us from the UK in 2008 and has worked in most areas of the fire alarm and safety systems industry.

His site experience includes public sector, major industry, chemical manufacture, financial sector, schools/colleges, major hotel chains, private hospitals and nation trust stately homes.

Martin has an in-depth knowledge of installation, service, fault finding and commissioning of conventional fire systems from most manufacturers including Protec, Kentek, Morley, Protecter and Gent.

He also has an in-depth knowledge of analogue-addressable systems (all aspects – service, install, commission and networking) made by most major companies.

Martin has a good knowledge of gas extinguishing/suppression systems as well as stand-alone systems and integrated Ansul liquid suppression systems.

He also has a good knowledge of RedCare, Aspiration systems, personal ammonia systems, beam detectors, water detection design and has contract managed medium systems of all types.

Prior to joining FSS, Martin worked for Chubb Fire UK for 10 years where he managed his own area and was responsible for providing the most cost effective and efficient fire detection/protection systems for clientele.

 


Adrian Zwart
Technical Officer


Trent Jeude
Technical Officer

Trent joined FSS in late 2007 as a Junior Technical Officer. Through comprehensive in-house training and a keen willingness to learn, Trent has become a proficient Draftsman in both 2D & 3D designs. Through his role at FSS, Trent has gained a sound knowledge of and experience in designing and estimating fire detection and protection systems for large scale industrial projects in various locations around the world. Trent is also currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) at QUT on a part-time basis, to further his working knowledge. 


Michelle Tarvit
Document Control / QA

Michelle joined the FSS team in 2009, after spending the last 10 years working in various administration roles within the tourism industry, both domestically and internationally.

Michelle heads FSS’ Document Control and is responsible for developing elements of the Quality System as well as providing financial and administrative support where necessary.

Michelle has a Bachelor of Management (Leisure & Recreation) and a keen eye for detail.
